Itinerary, Tashkent – Nukus – Muynak – Aral Sea – Sudochiye Lake – Kungrad – Toprak Kala – Ayaz Kala – Khiva – Bukhara – Shakhrisabz – Samarkand – Tashkent

Day 1Day of Arrival, Tashkent

Flight to Tashkent. You will arrive and pass passport and customs control. You will be met by a driver and transferred to the hotel. After breakfast and little rest, you will start the tour in the capital of Uzbekistan – Tashkent by visiting the famous sights of Tashkent: Khast Imam ensemble (2007), including the Oriental library of manuscripts that keeps the Quran of Caliph Usman, a visit to the oldest and largest Tashkent bazaar – Chorsu. After the descent into the famous Tashkent metro where each station amazes by its design. Transfer by metro to the place of lunch. Lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, a tour around the modern part of Tashkent: Amir Temur Square and Independence Square. Return to the hotel. Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in the hotel. 

Day 2Tashkent – Nukus

After an early breakfast transfer to the airport and flight to Nukus. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel. Accommodation. The beginning of the excursion. You will visit the State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan named after I. Savitsky. After lunch, visit the Mizdakhan necropolis.

Day 3Nukus – Muynak – the Aral Sea

After breakfast, departure to Muynak – the former seaport of the Aral Sea, which is widely known for its famous “Graveyard of ships”. Muynak was once the largest port of Karakalpakstan and the center of the fishing industry in the Aral Sea. At present, Muynak has turned into a huge ship graveyard. Continuation of the path along the endless Ustyurt plateau to the Aral Sea. Upon arrival, accommodation in a yurt camp near the Aral Sea.

Day 4the Aral Sea – Sudochiye Lake – Kungrad – Gaur Kala – Nukus

After breakfast, you will visit the settlement of Kurgancha, whose history dates back to the 13th century. The path runs through the Kungrad region, which in the past was one of the industrial centers of the Great Silk Road. A shortstop at Lake Sudochie. Here you can enjoy incredible landscapes. After lunch, you will continue the way to Nukus. Arrival. Hotel accommodation.

Day 5Nukus – Toprak Kala – Ayaz Kala – Khiva

After breakfast departure to the Ellik Kala region of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. You will visit the fortresses Ayaz Kala, Toprak Kala, Kavat Kala. After lunch, continue driving to Khiva. Arrival. Accommodation at the hotel. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 6Khiva

After breakfast, you will start the excursion in Khiva, whose inner city Ichan Kala, is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. You will visit Kunya Ark citadel (14th century), Muhammad Aminhan madrasah (18th century), Kalta Minor minaret, Muhammad Rakhimkhan 2 madrasah (1871 – 1876), Tash Hauli palace (19th century), Allakulikhan madrasah, Said Alauddin’s mausoleum (18-20 centuries), the Shergazikhan madrasah (1718-1726) and the minaret of Islam Khoja mosque (1908-1910). Overnight in the hotel.

Day 7Khiva – Bukhara

After breakfast you will be transferred to Bukhara through the Kyzylkum desert. On the way, you will stop for lunch. Arrival in Bukhara and accommodation at the hotel. Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 8Bukhara

After breakfast you will start the tour in Bukhara, which is considered to be the “dome of Islam.” You will visit Lyabi House architectural complex, which includes Kukeldash madrasah, Devonbegi khanaka and Devonbegi madrasah (16th-17th centuries), you will walk along the narrow streets of Bukhara through shopping domes to the famous architectural complex Poi Kalyan, which includes Kalyan mosque, Miri madrasah Arab and Kalyan Minaret (12th – 16th centuries). On the way, you will visit Ulugbek and Abdulaziz Khan Madrasahs. After lunch, you will visit Ark Citadel (18th – early 20th centuries) and the mausoleum of the Samanid dynasty. Dinner and folklore show at the Devonbegi Madrasah. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 9Bukhara – Shakhrisabz – Samarkand

After breakfast drive to the Kashkadarya region. The beginning of the city tour near the hometown of Amir Temur – Shakhrisabz (UNESCO world heritage). You will visit the ruins of Amir Temur’s Palace – Aksaray (1380-1404)., The Dorut Tilovat memorial complex, including the mausoleum of Sheikh Shamsuddin Kulyal al-Keshi, the Gumbazi-Seidan mausoleum, the Kuk-Gumbaz mosque. After the excursion, you will continue the way to Samarkand. After arrival, accommodation at the hotel. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 10Samarkand

After breakfast, you will start the excursion in one of the oldest cities in the world, which is considered the pearl of the Orient – Samarkand. You will visit such famous sights as the tomb of Temurids – Gur Emir (1404), Registan Square (1415-1660), which includes three madrassas – Ulugbek (1417), Sher Dor (1636) and Tilla Kori (1660). You will walk along Tashkent street to the famous mosque built by Amir Temur for his beloved wife – Bibi Khanym (1404). After lunch, you will have time for shopping in the Siab market, where you can feel the national atmosphere. Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 11Samarkand – Tashkent

After breakfast, you will continue the excursion around Samarkand. You will visit the mausoleum of St. Doniyor, the ruins of the Afrosiab settlement, the paper factory “Meros”, today, here, you can find the paper mill “Meros”, the founders of which are the famous craftsmen, the Mukhtarov brothers. Thanks to their efforts, the local factory revived the ancient tradition of making paper using ancient Samarkand technologies. Each guest of the factory can personally observe the process of making

 

paper, which is made from the bark of a mulberry tree. After lunch drive to Tashkent. Upon arrival, accommodation at the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 12Tashkent

After breakfast, transfer to the international airport and departure.
